The Russian History Museum fervently hopes and prays for the immediate cessation of hostilities in Ukraine and for the safety of all those affected by the war.

The museum is a non-political organization that promotes the study of Russian history and culture. Although it is not customary for us to make pronouncements about current political events, the ongoing humanitarian crisis is a tragedy that cannot be left without comment. The widespread suffering caused by the war and the plight of refugees has particularly painful resonance with our museum – an organization founded by a community of people who were forcibly displaced by revolution, world wars, and civil strife.

Our heart goes out to the innocent victims of the present catastrophe and we grieve for those who have lost their lives. We wholeheartedly desire the speedy restoration of peace.
